Jon Burgerman's Best of 2005
Favorite Event of 2005:
Total Ghaos by my friends at Reactor. it's such a shame more people didn't make it to the game/party/performance/art piece. it was an unique experience, still unsure if it was complete madness or semi-pretentious genius, probably neither...
Also the Ellie Harrison show in a London tube station was really cool as the whole audience went to a bar around the corner from the show and drank the night away. I met some friends I hadn't seen for seven years there too.
Favorite Artist of 2005:
Too many favourites too mention.
Off the top of my slightly fuzzy head I'd go for Yuck, Ashi, Koa, Superduex, Fons, Kei Sawada, serge seidlitz, yok, chimp, richt, rolito and sune ehlers
Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):
Dennis Tyfus and Ian (I like Drawing)

Favorite Piece of Art of 2005

What are you most looking forward to in 2006?
Traveling (but not by plane) and meeting foreign people and eating foreign things. Also - the Football World Cup all over Germany, the Pictoplasma Conference in Berlin and the farewell of Mr Blair. How much longer for Mr Bush?

Favorite Event of 2005:
Favourite Fiends Show at the Outside Institute, as it was one of the only things I got to go to, there were loads of things going on in 2005 though, wished I could’ve got to more.
Favorite Artist of 2005:
Ashley Wood/ELK sort of torn between em, Ashley Wood is a great artist, extremely prolific and I can’t get enough of his artwork, it is fast and dynamic, but Elk is still painting some of the best pieces I have seen on trains or otherwise. Both.
Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):
Armsrock, great punkrock looking drawings and amazing murals too, wished I could see more stuff by em really.
Favorite Piece of Art of 2005:
Any of the later pieces by Elizabeth Murray exhibited at the MOMA NY, her work was great the way it was on canvas, but stretched round these weird shapes, it was really like graffiti too, on the more cartoony side, very happy looking. Although I did see the Os Gemeos wall at Coney Island, that was pretty special too.

last year on new year's my little brother jerry and i dragged the christmas tree out into the yard, redecorated it with garlands of fire crackers and lit it, it turned into a bonfire so big i thought it was going to light the nearby trees on fire, but it didn't, just burned so pretty, i think that was art. good job jerry. oh, no wait! i am forgetting the city of names in berlin, akim and zasd bringing together the best graf writers from all over europe and creating a city of their own, for real, and living in it for half the summer. it was one of the most amazing things i have ever seen. those kids are so real.

Favorite Event of 2005:
my trips in india and nicaragua/guatemala

>Favorite Artist of 2005:

my 2005 favourite artist is not an artist
he's an italian peace activist called Turi Vaccaro.
On Wednesday 10 August 2005 he entered the air force base Woensdrecht in Hoogerheide (Netherlands) climbing over the fence and entering an hangar where he disarmed two F-16 airplanes , using an hammer he destroyed the instrument panels in the aircraft. His action has made it impossible to use these planes for fighting tasks (the estimated costs for restoring the planes is about 750,000 euro's). He disarmed the F16s to protest against the illegal storage of nuclear weapons at the nearby Volkel airbase and as a commemoration of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 60 years ago. The F-16s at Woensdrecht were being prepared for their war fighting tasks, including carrying and dropping the nuclear weapons based at Volkel airbase. There are currently 20 nuclear weapons at Volkel, each with a power 14 times the Hiroshima bomb.
Now he's in jail and he has also been ordered to pay 750,000 euro damages to the Ministry of Defence
Maybe he's not an artist but this is the best vandalize act i've ever seen.
