Elph’s Best of 2005

Favorite Event of 2005:

Favourite Fiends Show at the Outside Institute, as it was one of the only things I got to go to, there were loads of things going on in 2005 though, wished I could’ve got to more.

Favorite Artist of 2005:

Ashley Wood/ELK sort of torn between em, Ashley Wood is a great artist, extremely prolific and I can’t get enough of his artwork, it is fast and dynamic, but Elk is still painting some of the best pieces I have seen on trains or otherwise. Both.

Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):

Armsrock, great punkrock looking drawings and amazing murals too, wished I could see more stuff by em really.

Favorite Piece of Art of 2005:

Any of the later pieces by Elizabeth Murray exhibited at the MOMA NY, her work was great the way it was on canvas, but stretched round these weird shapes, it was really like graffiti too, on the more cartoony side, very happy looking. Although I did see the Os Gemeos wall at Coney Island, that was pretty special too.

Favorite New Product or Trend of 2005:

The Handpumping fence sprayer, with emulsion in for fill-ins

Favorite Toy of 2005:

New Wacom tablet from Apple Store NY.

Favorite CD or Song of 2005:

Regina Spektor, Soviet Kitsch

Favorite Website of 2005:

www.drawn.ca it’s great for art reference.

What do you most want for Christmas?

A lazy day watching tv and eating food.

How will you be spending the Holiday’s this year? / What will you be doing for New Years Eve?

Christmas with family, my little sister just had a baby, so hanging out with my niece. As well as talking war strategy with my father in law, whilst watching all the cheery war movies they put on tv. Also preparing for a show that starts early January. New Year, no plans yet, a bar with some mates and Helen hopefully.

What are you most looking forward to in 2006?

A bit of travel hopefully and getting into painting a bit more.
Learning how to draw letters again and doing some new shows, hopefully one in the Dragon Bar organised by Probly.
That’s aboot it really.
