Jon Burgerman’s Best of 2005

Favorite Event of 2005:

Total Ghaos by my friends at Reactor.  it’s such a shame more people didn’t make it to the game/party/performance/art piece. it was an unique experience, still unsure if it was complete madness or semi-pretentious genius, probably neither…

Also the Ellie Harrison show in a London tube station was really cool as the whole audience went to a bar around the corner from the show and drank the night away.  I met some friends I hadn’t seen for seven years there too.

Favorite Artist of 2005:

Too many favourites too mention.

Off the top of my slightly fuzzy head I’d go for Yuck, Ashi, Koa, Superduex, Fons, Kei Sawada, serge seidlitz, yok, chimp, richt, rolito and sune ehlers

Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):

Dennis Tyfus and Ian (I like Drawing)

Favorite Piece of Art of 2005

Paul Granjon and Bedwyr Williams from the Welsh pavilion at this years Venice Biennale. Granjons robots were amusing and sad and lewd.

Favorite New Product or Trend of 2005:

I’m not sure but I wasn’t a fan of the charity wristband trend that infected everyone so much.

Favorite Toy of 2005:

I really love the look of Good Wood Gang by Friends With You - but haven’t managed to pick one up yet. They look great though and I’m happy enough just to know that they exist.

Favorite CD or Song of 2005:

The Fall - Fall Heads Roll
also Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information
but that came out years ago but I only got it this year - it’s excellent.

What do you most want for Christmas?

No presents please.

How will you be spending the Holiday’s this year? / What will you be doing for New Years Eve?

Doodling or thinking of doodling. Also I will mainly be worrying about the forthcoming year and how I’m possibly going to fill another 12 months up without doing any real work.

What are you most looking forward to in 2006?

Traveling (but not by plane) and meeting foreign people and eating foreign things. Also - the Football World Cup all over Germany, the Pictoplasma Conference in Berlin and the farewell of Mr Blair. How much longer for Mr Bush?
