"This year was a really "baby boom" in my little circle of friends... I got really touched more than one time when I had this nice surprise hearing that a big friend was becoming a father/mother... That really inspired me in a production of a serie of graffiti attacks called "my little playground", that is all about kids playing arround.
I´m sending some photos of my last one as my christmas card so we can share this love with all the childrens of our lives and for the children that whe have inside as well...:) This piece is a special tribute to love and it´s dedicated to Lola, Bruna, Marti y Lluc, Theo, Miguel, Antonio Laudo, Pedro, Gustavo e Eduardo, Vitória, Violeta, Antonio Pedro, Beatriz and all kids of your friends too!" "I was recently invited by Vhils to Lisbon as a guest painter at the annual VSP (Visual Street Performance) show. VSP is an annual live painting event which takes place in the Portuguese cities of Porto and Lisbon. This year VSP took over a huge semi-derelict school in the heart of Lisbon to be decorated by a host of Portuguese talent (including Vhils, Hium, Klit, Mosaik and more) Previous guests include CASE, Xenz, Sickboy.
I spent an amazing 5 days there painting, meeting all the crew, eating great seafood and talking to some very passionate and inspiring artists and art lovers. Thanks to all that made it a great trip."

"I live in Birmingham, AL and while there is not a lot of street art we sometimes receive a gift like this. Nn 1978 a mural was painted on the side of this building and it stayed that way until a few months ago when realtors decided they wanted to rent the building. DAZE and ROKE (both bham artists), and PRIEST (of Mobile, AL) a few days ago did the piece below showing the kid peeling off the paint to once again reveal the mural underneath."

"I'd like to add a bit of information to the article posted this morning about the work of DAZE, ROKE and PRIEST in Birmingham. The original mural, entitled "Geo-Chromatic Progress" was painted in 1978 by Michael Mojher, now living in Orlando, Florida. It was part of the Birmingham Mural Project, an 18-month campaign to enliven downtown walls with the cooperation of underemployed artists. The project was funded by the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act and administered by the Greater Birmingham Arts Alliance."

The London Police Go Big In Amsterdam
The London Police recently completed the wonderful mural above in the heart of the historic Jordaan district in Amsterdam. Despite getting written permission from the owner of the building, the City Council has threatened to remove it. Local residents are now actively rallying to save the painting. Our hope is that it's preserved.

"Walking up close to one of my favorite buildings in town, I noticed the collapsed tunnel that goes under the old factory. The door and window coverings made for a nice pair of eyes. To paint the right eye I balanced on some rusty pipes that stick out from the ground. Once the eyes were finished, the building asked me for a smoke and so I gave him one."

From NEU BLACK comes these photos of Entitled the Knight, a terrific new collaboration between RETNA and The Mac in Baldwin Hills, CA. They write:
"This new collaboration embodies Los Angeles culture with delicate precision. RETNA’s signature typography flanks the portrait with pensive Spanish prose to the left and an excerpt from Marvin Gay’s “What’s Goin’ On” to the right, and finally tipping the brim of the hat with the inscription “Only Love Can Conquer Hate.”
The Mac is no stranger to intricate shading techniques and stoic portraiture. Much of his most recent work plays with topographical and moire patterns in fine detail. Here he’s utilized a circulating moire technique giving this striking figure an almost relaxed intensity"

"I am holed up in abandoned buildings in Dresden Germany doing a project on the photos of Francesca Woodman, it is entirely impossible to match the intensity of her figure and composition with a 2 dollar spray can and a crappy digital but the abandoned spaces and their poetic make the attempt worthwhile. Here are some photos of day One where i managed to break into an old hotel on the railway, I have five more days of expanding on the Street dialogue for an exhibition here in Dresden at the Motorenhalle starting March 19th"

All the areas around have been proclaimed “no street drinking zone” giving the homeless people and the local street drinkers no choices but to leave the area. As a result of this, the number of street drinkers is considerably increased in deprived areas where the drinking ban is not so strictly enforced."

I did this in Metelkova which is an area where artists with great philosophies squatted a while back and turned it into their own creative spot ruled by anarchy giving the city an alternative habitat. the figure is running out of Metelkova heading towards the train station and taking with him a trail of paint which crosses the street from this special place out towards the rest of the world"

Urban Painting in Carugate, Italy

URBAN PAINTING is an amazing street art show managed by the municipality of Carugate and curated by Luigi Mauri and his wife Tatiana Belluzzo. Similar to our 11 Spring show, the idea of Urban Painting was to do a great street art show without any sponsors for two days with no advertising. Inside at ATRION IN CARUGATE original artwork from more than 35 artists around the worlld was displayed.

Maybe this is only a parody to the most famous Disney character. But I like to think that this is a critical parody of the manichean society that only difference two types of people, or things or ways, the evil one and the good one. Maybe this mickey it´s celebrating the Obama's victory in the way he likes, getting absolutely drunk until brain dead. Or maybe he is a victim of the world economic crisis situation, and he just have lost his work.

Better Late Then Never... Ryan Dooley's Overpass Paintings
The photos above have been sitting in our email box since November of last year. But we like them so much we wanted to make sure we shared them with you. To create these paintings Ryan Dooley rigged up a fishing pole and an iron bar to use spraycans at a fifteen foot height using a long string and a lot of scotch tape. The objective was to paint a series of bridges above passing traffic, covering a span of 40 feet.
