New York | August 19 | "Reas Presents"

REAS PRESENTS

Thursday, August 19th marks the grand opening of the Mass Appeal gallery space--3more- with a fresh show curated by Todd James and Devin Flynn. "Reas Presents" will feature the diverse reach of artists that James has fea-tured in the visually-driven column he produces each month for Mass Appeal Magazine. As an artist himself, James, along with Barry McGee and Stephen Powers, created the massive "Street Market" installation for Deitch Projects (which would travel on to the Parco gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo and the Venice Biennale back in 2001). James is also responsible for the look and feel of Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers" series. James' unique Þngerprint makes those characters funnier than Bugs Bunny on crack.

Devin Flynn is a master animator whose killer work can be witnessed on Lightning Bolt's jaw-dropping dvd; Flynn also collaborated with James on his rather eclectic "Beloved Fiend" þick. In his spare time, Flynn is one of the musical maestros behind acclaimed rock outfit Plate Tectonics. In other words, Devin is in like... With an eye for the pop and the folk and the computer assisted, James and his "Reas Presents" will reveal some of the brightest jems created by today's most urgent artists--Devin Flynn, Noah McDonaugh, Josh Lazcano, Ian Flynn, Chris Capouzzo, Takeshi Murata, Francine Spiegel, Frank Paske, Peter Girardi and Dear Raindrop, as well as James' own fantastic works will be on view. Words to the wise: if you snooze on this reception you will lose.

@ 3more gallery : 632 Grand Street in East Williamsburg

New York | September 3 | Graphic Poetry

Graphic Poetry: by The Black Krayon. Loosely defined, always with the times, The Black Krayon introduces his viewers to a world of exploration. Through his not quite human scrawling and scribbles, he defines his lyrical graphic poetry as a direct fusion of his graffiti background and graphic design aesthetics. Closes 9/29.
