The streets of New York

The streets of New York City are currently covered in patches of
snow; sometimes white, sometimes yellow, but most often brown.  Amidst the
grime, gum, and salt, are a series of wonderfully alive "http://www.woostercollective.com/flower">drip painted flowers. While the
artist is unknown (at least to us) the flowers have become a treasured part of
our downtown experience. I was pleased to see a new batch of the flowers
suddenly emerge over the past week.

With a Pollack-esque flair, each
flower has its own unique personality.  Some look like angels, others like
dancing goddesses. The bright colors shine, with mixtures of red and yellow.
There are so many drip flowers in our neighborhood of Soho, that it becomes like
a scavenger hunt to find them all.  They have become a staple of the downtown
scene, much like the stop signs on every block.  We often laugh, thinking of the
number of tourists who walk over the flowers unaware. However, if they do look
down and notice the art beneath their feet, we’re pretty sure that they’ll take
the images with them as they continue down the street.
