Ludwigsburg, South Germany | October 17th | pdf – patchwork deutsche freiheit



Background: Some time ago we came across the pdf (“portable document file”) as a promoter of participation, democracy and free speech in the internet. The initials “pdf” can also stand for “patchwork deutsche freiheit” (“patchwork german freedom”), or the command “plakatiert deutsche freiflachen” (“put up posters on free space in germany”).  October 3rd is the German national holiday, “Tag der deutschen Einheit”. Traditionally, our politicians are full of praise for the German national culture on this day. In our eyes this is a hypocritic attempt to cover up the fact that public funds for culture are being shortened these days. With this street art exhibition, we want to show our disagreement with German “Leitkultur” and help to create cultural areas for young people free from mainstream culture and branded goods.
