"WHAT A WONDERFUL LIFE" @ ALICE GALLERY & SHOP _
SUPPORTED BY: MODART MAGAZINE / CARHARTT
The street, a quiet history of traffic... until street art... the street’s mutated into a huge fresh canvas, a delight for artists such as Microbo, Bo130 and The London Police. From walls and forums to books and specialised magazines, their talent has been recognized worldwide, surpassing the wail of critics, public boredom and time. Quite suprisingly, those who still ‘hesitate’ to aknowledge the talent of these artists are the art galleries, keeping a safe distance, waiting to see what’ll happen.
‘What a Wonderful Life’ brings together Microbo, Bo130 and The London Police at the Alice Gallery & Shop in Brussels. These three artists have worked and travelled together many times, sharing the unique experience of underground culture. They will be presenting their individual as well as collective work in Alice’s new 200 m2 exhibition space.
MicroboOne of those back alley stray cats, a rare ‘original’ who’s grown up on the street, painting and ‘stickering’ her way through life. Her graphic world of zombie-like microbes portrays a universe of constant mutation, evolution, just like a city. Her characters represent a bizarre melting pot of cultural and sociological diversity, an ephemeral street art, a healthy detoriation of the urban landscape.
Bo130Microbo’s partner in crime, spreading his aliens (along with her microbes), wherever they go.
Inspired by urban lifestyle, music, cartoons, sex, food and graffitis Bo130 strikes through the strong political messages of his art and the representation of marginal feelings towards society.
“Hey I’m drawing aliens... of course I feel as an alien in my hometown! Aliens represent evolution, adaptation; a bit like the cities we live in. A constant broth of what the world has on offer... I believe diversity is our unifying heritage”
The London PoliceTLP. Known worldwide for his ‘Lads’. A great minimalist touch of art brought to the streets of Amsterdam, New York and Tokyo to name a few. The quality and frequency of his contribution to urban art makes him one of the most respected street artists today.
