Giant Robot SF Presents: No Do Overs

622 Shrader Street, San Francisco, CA 94117

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 6, 6:30 to 10pm

Nearly one year after its grand opening in San Francisco, Giant Robot SF is proud to present No Do Overs, GRSF’s first comic book art show, displaying works from Martin Cendreda, Sammy Harkham, Derek Kirk Kim and John Pham on Saturday, November 6. These four California-based illustrators are well-known for their humorous narratives, simple aesthetics and strong emotional content. No Do Overs features works of wit and intelligence, without the pretense.

Martin Cendreda is a 32-year-old Los Angeles native and is the creator of DANG! His works have appeared in Giant Robot, XLR8R, Peko Peko, 1-UP, and Arthur. He also works in animation part-time to help pay the bills. He lives with his wife Jenny and their two cats in LA and enjoys Patrick O’Brian novels and frozen pizza.

Sammy Harkham was born in 1980 and dropped out of the California Institute of the Arts. He edits and illustrates for the highly regarded comics anthology, Kramers Ergot. His works have been seen in numerous Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy records, the Best American Nonrequired Reading 2004 collection and soon in the Drawn and Quarterly Showcase Volume 3. Harkham lives in LA.

Derek Kirk Kim is the Eisner, Harvey and Ignatz Award-winning writer/artist of Same Difference and Other Stories. He is currently working on the debut issue of his ongoing one-man anthology, Lowbright. He lives in Pacifica, a cozy coastside town near SF.

John Pham lives and works on his comics, drawings, toys, prints and paintings in LA. Awarded a grant from the Xeric Foundation, he published his first comic, Epoxy, in 2000. He likes tempura, sometimes rocks a moustache and wears a fanny pack.
