because of this, it’s hard not to love

HERE TO HELP. I AM HERE TO DESTROY attitude. The other day Magmo was kind
enought to answer a few questions for us:
Wooster: How did
you get started in creating art for the street?
Magmo: I was
just tired of seeing another brandname store/chain/franchise/depot whatever
pop’en up on every block. I’ve seen neighborhood streets filled with diverse
cultures and positive energy get transformed into giant super market isles
force’n their products and messages on us. I was like no way…that’s not
right..time for MAGMO. the corporates can keep their buildings, the streets are
ours.
Wooster. What originally inspired you to do Magmo The
Destroyer?
Magmo: Grown’en up I had all these ideas and
opinions about everything that surrounded me, about our culture our media our
society, and I just didn’t agree with a lot of it. I would hear people saying
“What can you do?, How can you change that?” I guess, unconsciously MAGMO was
created inside me, it was like a little voice in the back of my head that kept
saying “DESTROY!” I feel like I was put on earth for some destined reason…to
create and destroy…MAGMO is me and I am MAGMO, both born to do just that. I am
here to help.
Wooster: What other street artists do you
most admire and why?

in Paris not to long ago there was this yellow cat with a big fat grin on his
face that kept pop’en up everywhere, painted on walls, in between tree branches,
up high on buildings. there was something about it, like the cat was watch’en
you… I know he was up to something, it made me feel good. if anyone knows the
artist gimmie a shout, I’ve been
look’en for awhile. I attached some pics to peep…
Wooster:
What’s your favorite city, neighborhood, or block, to post and/or to see street
art?
Magmo: My favorite streets are the ones I haven’t been
down yet, cause I know they’re gonna show me a lot. I like walk’en down streets
for the first time, the streets talk to you, they tell you what’s going on,
what’s hot/not, they give you the vibe of the neighborhood/city. I look at the
really old dirty stickers, I see who’s using B&W or who gots color… what
posters are up and what’s under them… its like reading a book, take a left or
right and its a whole new page, a whole different story.
Wooster:
What inspires you now?
Magmo: I take it all in… I try
to expose myself to as much as possible books, mags, art shows, movies, music,
traveling. MAGMO has a big appetite for creativity in any form visual, physical
or mental… just bring it.
