When we were kids, each

When we were kids, each year when we returned
to school from our summer break, we had to write a short essay for class
describing what we did over the summer holiday - where we went, who we saw,
etc.. So with yestersay’s bank holiday marking the unofficial end to Summer
2003, we asked artists around the world to let us know what they did over their
Summer holiday.

What I Did On My Summer Vacation… by Jace

/>“Yes! Really funny, cause i’m a drawing teacher (for the moment) at high
school and i will probably ask this to my prurple when school will reopen !
/>
I travel to a big neighbour island called Madagascar. Police air kept my
cans at the airport . Fortunately i foresee some posters all the same i have to
find some painting overthere. Really difficult cause it’s an “undevelopped”
country !

Graffitis are quite inexisting (aerosol cans are too
expensive for the unhabitants). I stick some posters in the capital then moved
to a small nomad fisher village with friends, the place was really roots : no
current water, no electricity. I painted a sailing boat there with…tar used
for quenching boat. In a few seconds the village came all around me and severals
fishers asked me to paint their sailing too. Unfortunately i had no colors. a
few days later we moved with an old rusted train. At the terminus station, the
chief let me paint a train (with some cans found there), moreover i took
/>the police seat to get higher on the train !!!! The chief apologised he had no
better looking train to offer me…

Even if it seems cool you have to
be careful cause jail is hell overthere !!!!!You can offer stickers, people take
it as present and put it on their car or house very proudly.

This was
an incredible experience, landscape are really marvellous andpeople are very
nice. The main problem is poverty althought the earth is wealthy. Corruption is
also present at differents levels. Diarrhoea was also a personnal problem
!!!!!

Cheers
JACE”
