What’s Currently Inspiring You?.... Part I

As we head deep into the Summer months, we
thought we’d reach out to a group of our favorite artists and ask a single (but
perhaps not so simple) question:

What’s currently inspiring
you?

Is there anything you’ve seen recently that has fuelled
your creative juices?

Over the next couple of days, we’ll post a
series of the responses we’ve reveived. Here’s the first batch:

/>FROM LOGAN HICKS:

“One artist I met about 8 years
ago has come back to inspire me. Judith Schaechter. Judith is a stained glass
artist out of Philly. I saw her name in the back of the newest Juxtapoz, and i
have been remembering her work. her shit is amazing. The technical level and the
creative input are equal. Looking at her work on the web really doesn’t do it
justice. When you see it in person, you can see the depth and levels that the
work exists in. the fact it is stained glass blows me away. Her website is href="http://www.judithschaechter.com">judithschaechter.com. there are other
things that are inspiring me, but the is the inspiration of the week.”... href="http://www.workhorsevisuals.com">Logan

/>FROM CALMA:

“One of the most inspiring things I’ve
seen recently is the work of this collective called “Upgrade do Macaco”  from
Porto Alegre (south of Brazil) that counts with wonderfull artists like href="http://fotolog.net/pingarilho">Pingarilho, href="http://www.fotolog.net/mondoguigui">Guilherme Pilla, href="http://www.fotolog.net/tinico">Tinico e Bruno href="http://www.fotolog.net/9li">9li. Their work is very strong and
spiritual inspired. A must see.”... href="http://www.fotolog.net/calma/">Calma

/>FROM KOFIE’ ONE CHIEF DRAFTSMEN:

“what’s currently inspiring me?
actually in fall of 03’ there was a retrospective href="http://www.hammer.ucla.edu/exhibitions/3/">at the UCLA hammer museum
showcasing the works of an artist that i had
never heard of or seen work
from for that matter. a select few of my fellow
artisans that know me well
kept telling me “you need to see this show, you’ll bug!”
& “it’s
everything your about”. well, the advice was taken and i was taken
back.
way back. knocked out.  Lee Bontecous work is like nothing else but
/>incredible and inspiring to me. from stretched military canvas over welded
frames to
beautifully detailed pencil sketches to huge technical mobiles
hanging from
the walls. no artist in my lifetime has moved me so much as
lady Bontecou. i snatched up the retrospective book quick and remind myself
often of her
inspiring and groundbreaking works.”... href="http://www.keepdrafting.com/">Kofie’ One
