THEME Magazine Has Arrived

/>Early last year, John Lee, a good friend and an amazing designer, came by our
place to discuss THEME, a new magazine that John had recently left his day job
to devote 100% of his time and energy into developing.

John described
THEME to us as a magazine in the vein of Index, the Fader, or Anthem, only with
an Asian lean. He describes the focus of the magazine as giving readers an
insiders’ look into the “global tipping point that is Asian influence”

/>We loved John’s vision and offered to contribute a piece on the contemporary
art scene in China.

/>We’re pleased to let you know that in the coming days the premier issue of
THEME will be arriving at newstands across the country. In addition to our piece
on the China art scene, the “Vanguard Issue” of THEME also features a terrific
interview with Barry McGee.

/>Our favorite part of the interview with McGee comes when he’s asked how he
feels about the current state of the art world. His response: “The art world
bores me to tears. I cannot feel truly connected to it until all my hooligan
friends are running the system or actively destroying it. Soon.”

Keep
an eye out for THEME at your local newstand. The THEME website should be up and
running online soon. But until then, if you have any questions about the
magazine, drop John a note at publisher@thememagazine.com
