The Wooster Collective Gets Buffed (Virtually)

This morning we received word that our entire
Wooster website has been virtualy buffed by Andrew Jackson, the Systems and
Technology Manager of the Manchester Libraries & Information Service in
Manchester, England.

Here’s Andrew’s response, sent to a loyal reader
of the Woost who wanted to get his art fix at the local library:
/>

“Thank you for taking the time to submit an on-line form
requesting that the web site
http://www.woostercollective.com
is unblocked.

We have reviewed
the site and have found that our filter was blocking the site because some of
its content fell into the “Criminal Activity ” category.

The reason
that the site falls into this category is that it appears to actively promote
street art,
picturing examples of street art on public buildings. (The
site describes itself as a “A Celebration of Street Art”).

Web sites
that fall within the “Criminal Activity” category are currently blocked as a
matter of policy by the Libraries Department.

I hope this decision
will not deter you from continuing to use our computers.
