The Sounds of Graffiti Research Project
A group of university students at HGKZ, the art
and design school of Zurich, are working on a project about the sound aesthetics
of graffiti in general, and the spray can in particular. They’ve asked us to
help them reach out to writers to answer seven brief questions on this topic.
You can send your answers back via email to the address below. The deadline is
sunday november 14th. The project will only involve sound and text. No names
will mentioned.
1_ how many years have you been working with
spraycans?
2_ do you pay attention to the different sounds of the
spraycan? noticed anything in particular?
3_ if there were spraycans
for sale that don’t make a sound, would you be interested in using them - and,
if not, why not?
4_ does the sound help you with your hand and arm
coordination while spraypainting?
5_ do you use spraycans as a motive
in your work? if so, have their sounds influenced the way you portrayed it?
/>
6_ how well aware are you of the sounds around you while spraypainting
(dogs barking, cars and trains, etc.)? do you pay more attention to them then in
an everyday situation?
7_ other comments to the subject…...
