The last time we saw video projections as street art was in Reykjavik
last winter. So when we received an email from Abe letting us know about href="http://www.four7.com/index.html">47 and the outdoor projections
he’s been doing, we were happy to see that artists in the US are doing similar
things.  47 describes their mission as follows:

“As digital graffiti artists, avatars of information
culture and architects of media, 47 builds narratives within the modern media
flux. 47 questions, engaging the world at large in finding answers. Above and
below ground, 47 operates with a renegade edge, while mastering the ability to
flow in and out of the dominant structures of art, power, and commerce. Their
work shatters the walls between private and public worlds and reconstructs the
dominant paradigms of nationality, religion, geography, and resource allocation.
As live performers and activists, 47 celebrates life and model their movements
on artists who push art and politics to the edge, from Manu Chao to Muhammad
Ali, the Situationists International to Bob Marley.

Currently 47 is
developing several projects.

Digital Graffit is a series of
renegade art events, held in urban locations. Using a mobile digital projection
system, the arcitecture of the city is transformed into a video canvas. Graffiti
built out of pure light.

Propagate is an animated derive into
urban propaganda, done in collaboration with "http://www.obeygiant.com">Shepard Fairey.

Find out more on
their website.  Also, Abe let us
know the new Res Magazine has a feature story on outdoor projecting.
