“Since i can remember I love to draw or
build the craziest things. When i was like 11 i invented graffiti: at least i
thought i was very smart to just write my childish nickname on public domain. (i
didnt know what graffiti was, there were no examples for me back then) When my
mom found out it was over, but not gone, cuz years later, when i was 16 or
sumtin’,  i had “taken” sum spraycans from a store just for kicks. So there i
was, with two spraycans: so i made a logo-styly-piece. Really wack, but back
then i only knew logo’s.

In 1995 i started for real with graffiti
with my friend “stop”. First all kinda names, but in early 96 i saw a movie from
steven king: “the stand” . The movie wasn’t important,, but sumone quoted
YEATS.. : “the centre doesn’t hold”.  ( i liked the expression.. like graff, the
virus was spreading ) Lateron the name changed to “yates”: it sounds better and
it writes better as well.

In 1997 i started stickers: white labels
where i drew pieces on with edding markers. Now in 2003 my stickers are
improved: still handmade, none identical, pro-stickermaterial. One of the
reasons is prolly that i did artskool for a few years, and now studying to
become an art-teacher: im more aware of what i do.

My opinion is that
ya have to be creative non-stop: with drawings, objects, movies, sites, but also
in solving all kinda problems in life. Problems are challanges, even tho i get
frustrated, angry, upset and all kinda other emotions that i feel, when im
workin on my projects.

Is it all a waste a energy? A stupid question
because i dont feel i have a choice: i have to create convincing shite, no
matter what. Credits for my local “heroes” like “NOV, HIM, SCAGE, SMASH, ATARI,
SONY” Credits for ppl that think that stickers are serious bizznizzzz! Credits
