Numskull - The A’s to Our Q’s:

/>Wooster: How did you get started in creating art for the
street?

Numskull: Back when I was a youngen at
school my brother got me into Graffiti. For a good few years I was a right
little vandal, tagging anything I could and occasionally doing a piece. That got
me nowhere so I quit that, and with my bro’s paint started stenciling our
skateboards. From then on it progressed from the skateboard to the street and
now here I am.

Wooster: Why numskull and why
pumpkins?

Numskull: The “numskulls” was an old comic
strip from England I used to read quite a alot, with this kid who’s head was run
from the inside by 6 little people called the “numskulls”. Fascinating! The
reason why I chop heads off and replace them with fruit+veg is to take away
thought from the body and create a fantasy character without reason.

/>Wooster: What other street artists do you most admire and
why?

Numskull: PatchWK from Sydney; they have the
most unique style of stenciling I have ever seen. My brother (meph) and all his
mates. Daim, banksy, Meek, Prism. I could go on for a while.

/>Wooster: What’s your favorite city, neighborhood, or block,
to post and/or to see street art?

Numskull: My own
area, in the city, or Melbourne.

Wooster: What
inspires you now?

Numskull: The people i create
with.

Wooster: What are you currently working on?
Can you give us a sneak peek?

Numskull: Have been
off the streets for a while now, but hopefully not too long. I am co-running a
graff/design business called Twisted
Ink
here in Sydney and planning a big REMIX exhibition called href="http://www.resistcrew.com">RESIST for March in Sydney where a bunch of
artists from all styles battle each other on canvas.
