FV03 - The A’s to Our Q’s:
Wooster: How did you get started
in creating art for the street?
FV03: I did graff
at the end of the eighties, but after a few years I was fortunate to find out
that using vandalism to show my art was not the right way. I picked up the
graff-techniques about a year and a half ago, using my skills to make rooms and
streets a more colorful environment.
Wooster: How
would you describe your style?
FV03: Post-graffiti
with the purpose to make space more lively. My statement against the boredom of
life. But also against cynicism, that unfortunately also lives amongst some
streetartists, who feel they have to reflect the chaos and filth of the city,
thereby keeping the problems alive. Considering technique, I love working with
aerosol. It’s fast and effective. And I think graff is the beginning of it all.
Wooster: Who are your influences?
/>FV03: Artists like Van Gogh and ‘Les Fauves’ for their
vitality in color. The futurists of Italy for their use of dynamics and speed.
Post-graffiti masters like Crash for their consistency. All Graffiti for the use
of form and color.
Wooster: What other street
artists do you most admire and why?
FV03: Zasd from
Berlin. Wonderfull use of form and material. Never see much of him on the
internet by the way. Dave Warnke for his positive and simple style. London
Police: the same. Oldskoolers like Crash and Futura. And all other artists that
use shape and color, and are not afraid to change and explore.
/>Wooster: What’s your favorite city, neighborhood, or block,
to post and/or to see street art?
FV03: Berlin is
wonderful. Utrecht is small, but sometimes there are nice things popping up.
/>
Wooster: What inspires you now?
/>FV03: My imagination. Art itself. Animals. Popculture.
Friends. But especially the people telling me that I’m doing the right thing.
Wooster: What are you currently working on? Can
you give us a sneak peek?
FV03: In May I will be
exposing five paintings in cafe ‘Het Licht’ in Utrecht. Right now I’m working on
some new ideas for a streetartproject: fake castles by FV03 real estate. A dream
being build in a functional environment.
