Bask - The A’s to Our Q’s:

Wooster: How did you get
started in creating art for the street?:

Bask: A
friend of mine(CISTER) moved to St.Pete from Riverside Ca. and introduced me to
graffiti. We then got together with TES-ONE and a few other local writers in the
area to form SBS Crew. Mind you this is the Tampa/St,Pete. area, so the pool of
street artists was pretty small. This was good and bad. On one hand we made the
scene our own and had the opportunity to do as we like with it but it was
missing that over saturated creative competition that a larger city has. I do
have to say that I don’t get up as much as I used to though. Most of my time and
energy these days is spent doing gallery projects.

Wooster:
What other street artists do you most admire and why?

/>Bask: Beside my old crew mates CISTER and TES-ONE. I love
TWIST, GIANT, BANKSY, Shepard Fairey, DALEK, KAWS and a bomber in Detroit that
goes by ARMY. These are the folks that I look up to. Really though, I respect
anybody good or bad that sees the streets as a potential canvas.

/>Wooster: What’s your favorite city, neighborhood, or block, to post and/or to
see street art?

Bask: DETROIT. This city has such
a great graff scene. There are also a lot of activists here and they put up some
really great political stencils and posters. I do think I have a bias though.
After the Big D I would have to say San Francisco.

Wooster:
What inspires you now?

Bask: For the most
parts I’m inspired by current events. Both national, international and/or my own
day to day living in Detroit. I see a lot of struggle here and being around that
I have no choice but to absorb it, then regurgitate it back via art.

/>Wooster: What are you currently working on?  Can you give us
a sneak peek?

Bask: All of my latest projects and
endeavors can be caught at href="http://www.BaskInYourThoughtcrimes.com">www.BaskInYourThoughtcrimes.com
