I went downtown with my daughter to the peaceful (as far as I witnessed) and powerful protests against the ICE raids in LA and though the chants of "power to the people" and "whose streets?-our streets!", along with tons of creative signs, were inspiring...I felt sick that the protests were even necessary. I love LA because it is such a welcoming and multi-cultural city. LA doesn't want ICE raids and California in general doesn't want ICE raids. Trump's hypocrisy is astounding because when it suits his agenda he says "let's let the states decide", but when a state opposes his agenda he brings in federal forces like ICE and the National Guard. Anyone with a recall of the facts knows that Trump's businesses employed many undocumented workers, an inconvenient fact for him in his efforts to demonize immigrants and stoke nationalism. The ICE raids are brutal, the scapegoating of immigrants is fascism 101, and any person with a conscience should oppose all of it.
