More on “Internet vs. Paper”
From
href="http://www.fotolog.net/_g_/">G in Paris:
/>“INTERNET vs. PAPER “
Both medias
Both good places to show, to
share, and to inform about street-art, graffiti, etc…
Both have their own
positives and negatives sides:
INTERNET : need a computer, really
“on-the-moment” and recycabled support, worldwide connection,
able to show
all even the lowest quality stuff, doesn’t need business plan to work, easy to
show fresh work…
PAPER : a deluxe support, a great archive, a
reductive media about the real scene, often showing the same “hype” stuff,
/>often related the “already known” stuff in order to hide from editorials risk,
a “not-so-easy-to-find’ if you’re not living in a big town, make nice in your
bookcase…
Both could work together as could work far from each
other….
Every magazine has got a website, but how many websites have got
a magazine?
Nowadays, art in da streets is kinky, hype, good fashion style,
a real place to be….
so it’s logical to see so much medias make their
informations with it….
it reminds me 80’s beginning with sk8boarding
while many magazine were created..and today how many are still alive ?
/>maybe it will happen the same to the urban-art-stylelife media in a few
years…
is too much an enemy of good ?
i really don’t know and as
you say it becomes harder and harder to have different published stuff in
websites and magazines….and i don’t talk about books (ART OF REBELLION, STREET
LOGOS for the latest ones but think also to the amazing Graffiti bibliography
since SUBWAY ART !! )....
for my last words i would say that living
in a society of information works also for the art world.
Information is
wealth, nevermind about support it just about to show, to share and to
know….
Improve the knowledge is the solution.
Internet and Paper
are different tools but are the same weapons to broadcast all artists’ aims,
goals and opinions…
but in spite of all my opinion i’ve to choose it will
be difficult because “What’s the better place for street-art ?”.....maybe still
the streets. ![]()
PS : try to find books called “La societe du
spectacle” by Guy Debordes and “La tyrannie de la communication” by Ignacio
Ramonet. I even don’t know if they’re english (or other languages) translated
but they’re both a great analysis and overview of our information modern
world.”
From 86:
/>“Well, professionally, i’m a bit divided between online journalism and graphic
art areas. Each media has its own skill. When the question is news media, i can
say that i like the dynamism of the Internet, the possibility of archive
contents, otherwise i prefer read print books, papers and magazines. People must
understand that online media is not an evolution of other medias (print, tv,
radio..), it’s “just” a new media, a new possibility to spread information. Of
course, because Internet is a multimedia media (sorry if it sounds strange for
you), with it i can, for example, talk with many other urban artists, know many
of you and spread my artworks to the world. Well, that’s it. Each media has his
own skills.”
