London | September 24 | V

RISK AND ORIGINALITY ARE ABOUT TO BE EXPLORED IN COMMERCIAL ART

We are pleased to present V
A collaboration as dynamic as it is unique between:

MATT & AUSTIN, (NEW)
ANDREW & SPENCER, (PEEPSHOW)
RON JONZO, (RONZO INDUSTRIES)
LUCY & AL, (BEAT 13)
JAKE, (DETONATOR)
MR PINKS (PINKY)
JODY BARTON, (BIG ACTIVE)

V brings together a heavyweight group of eminently talented artists - their collective influence already being felt in diverse and far flung corners of the media. St.Luke’s advertising agency is the venue for what will be a highly innovative, venue-specific collaborative art project.

IN THE CURATING CORNER:

Austin Cowdall and Matt Hamilton of NEW. From their control centre 20 floors up in a South London tower block, NEW have swooped to conquer, applying their lo-tech urban street art and new-tech edginess to iconic effect for The Face, Levi’s, Mother, The Guardian Guide, Time Out, Lodown magazine, The British Council and the simian eclecticism of The Illustrated Ape Magazine, for which they have provided illustration, design and art direction.

This mutually inspiring creative relay will take place with ten equally acclaimed illustrators, resulting in three pieces of original collaborative artwork, to be painted directly onto the exhibition space.

IN THE COLLABORATIVE CORNER:

ANDREW and SPENCER from PEEPSHOW, whose clients include the BBC, PERVERTED SCIENCE, and GRAPHICS INTERNATIONAL are ready to go the distance, as is RON JONZO, who has already shown impressive form with his LEVIS, RED BULL & MITSUBISHI combination. LUCY and AL from BEAT 13 (CARHARTT, MTV, EMI) are definitely not punching above their weight, and weaving with comparable flare is JAKE, whose clients include The Prodigy, Lucas Films and Ugly Duckling. MR PINKS has sparred with such luminaries as CHRISTIAN DIOR, MAHARISHI and FCUK, whilst JODY BARTON counts GREENPEACE, VIOLENT DELIGHT and VICE Magazine among his most high profile conquests.

The blend of styles promises a mixed-media meltdown of cutting edge illustration and design that has its finger so hard on the pulse its fingerprints have worn away. DJ’s to be confirmed and special V Stall from the likes of artist and collector Mark Pawson (Urban Outfitters and Tatty Devine) will mark the event out as much more than just another Private View!
