Kelly Burns’ Best of 2005

Favorite Event of 2005:

Blinde Design Skate Event (Fundraiser for Andy Kessler - who fell in their skate pool and shattered his pelvis). Many artists contributed decks and other works to the show, which were then auctioned off. Myself and a few friends (Infinity - Jet+Rubble - and Momo were invited to collaborate on a huge canvas for the event. It was great to work with those cats. They’re all as cool as the other side of my pillow.

A close second would be the Cut and Paste, live design battle . That was awesome.

Favorite Artist of 2005:

Miranda July - “ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW”.

Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):

I don’t think I knew about Momo untill 2005. His work isbold, beautiful andcompletely sincere - and he’s one of the coolest guys in this mad city.

Favorite New Product or Trend of 2005:

New personal trend - buying shirts with sleeves! Woo-hooo!

Favorite Toy of 2005:

My first cell phone.

Favorite CD or Song of 2005:

Don’t know when it came out, I only heard it this year (lame, I know), but “The Man Comes Around” by Johnny Cash is one bad jam.

Favorite Website of 2005:

The lovely Jet+Rubble... the work these two produce is so labor-intensive it makes me question their sanity. And they take a nice picture, too.

What do you most want for Christmas?

A massive stack of dollars. Enough to buy 3 Hummers, which I would leave running all the time in case I wanted to drive down to the deli for a coke.

How will you be spending the Holiday’s this year? / What will you be doing?

Sitting around with my family, enjoying the warmth and weirdness.

for New Years Eve?

Avoiding the Bleecker street drunkards.

What are you most looking forward to in 2006?

Spring!!

Check out Kelly’s book. I NY here.
