“Is there ONE painting, sticker,

“Is there ONE painting, sticker,
stencil, sculpture, or piece of architecture that truly inspires you in your
daily work?”

“Give ‘Em Props!”—Joseph Beuys by Mysterious Al

“Okay, so I’ve been drunk for eight days now, and have spent
most of it thinking about which *single* artist I should give my props too…
Here he is: Joseph Beuys produced a number of fantastic sculptures and paintings
throuought his career, but it’s his doodles and drawings that drive me
absolutely crazy. I went to one of his collections at the Royal Academy in
London a few years ago, and was blown away by his throwaway pencil drawings on
the back of old scrap papers, envelopes and napkins. The confidence and quality
in this guys markmaking was a big influence to me when I was making work at art
school, and his shit still looks contemporary even though his pieces were done
like, fifty years ago.”
