“Give ‘Em Props!”—Piero Manzoni by Influenza
“There are many little
things in art that others did and are stimulating for me in different ways, good
to think about and keep in mind while working. one of the things that crosses my
mind first is the amazing work of Bas Jan Ader but since i can only drop one
example i would name Piero Manzoni, an italian artist that did his stuff in the
60s. One of the works he did was putting his fingerprints on eggs to sign it
with his own signature. the touch itself as the writing. i made a sticker a
while ago to give tribute to my old-time art heroes and his fingerprints where
one of them. i made a sticker after his thing, in a way as a reminder that in
history real cool stuff was made that not many ‘street-operators’ know about
nowadays.” (Note on the sticker from Influenza: “contro le stile was the title
of the manifesto he was a co-writer with, together with yveklein, fontana and
others. a text against the codes of painting. maybe a good idea to write a
manifesto agianst graffiti now..)
