Tip 1: the
3 P’s

Prolific, Planning and Preparation. This sounds obvious but
it is actually really good to get use to some kind of time management. I usually
paint in multiple sets of stickers or canvases. Whilst one background is drying
another one can be started etc…before you know it you have painted 10-20
paintings in a morning, instead of waiting around for just the one to dry.

Tip2: waste not want not

I like to keep hold of as
many spray cans as possible. Even the slightest bit of red colour left in a can
could be useful on another painting. If you are out painting its good to dispose
of your empty cans properly. It’s good to remove the caps and dent them in. (and
itstops little fingers getting sticky)

Tip3: documenting
/>
Only with in the past year i have decided to start documenting some of
my street art with photos. As a kids do, we would take photos of group
productions with disposable cameras. These are possibly the worst cameras to
use. If you need to use a flash, try not to to point it directly at the piece or
your gonna get allot of white, shiny bricks. Its also good to take more than one
photo of a piece from different angles, just incase the first one doesn’t work.
For a little bit extra alot of photo developers can put the photos directly on
to disk. A collection of CD’s look less incriminating than a shelf of photo
album books, even better why not keep them at a friend’s house:)

/>Tip4: Creatures of habit

Know your area and surroundings,
what time buildings are open, what time people are around on the streets. With
my work I leave allot of paintings amongst rubbish. This gives it a very short
shelf life when I am being directly followed by the refuse truck. In fact
garbage men are most probably the only people who have ever seen my work.
/>
Tip 5: Wrap up well

This is a tip for the prolific
sticker artist who wants to put up in a busy environment but remaining as
inconspicuous as possible. You can find the perfect place to stick a piece of
your art only to stand there thumbling around trying to peel off the backing.
This is where the “Sticker Coat” comes in handy. This is any type of coat with a
smooth synthetic plastic lining. Before you leave your home, peel off all the
stickers you wish to use and gently tack them around the inside breast area of
your coat(you kind of feel like a magician full of doves) carefully put on the
coat and go for a walk. When you feel the urge, just slightly un-zip your
garment, reach in and casually choose from your selection.
