Favorite Event of 2004:

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Zonenkinder:
for sure our favorite event 2004 was the streetart-exhibition we organized
together with friends in mainz

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

because it was very interesting to work together with the
different artists we had invited and it was amazing to see and feel the love and
seriousness behind the artworks! we are looking forward to organize part II in
2005!

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Blek Le Rat: Every
year since more than thirty years, I go back as a pilgrim at the place where I
spent every holiday in my youth.The place is completely abandoned now and nobody
has the money to fix the place… I am fascinated by abandoned place in the
world, that kind of empty places where people used to live and died and where
they were happy or suffered, loved and hated in the past. Places, where so many
things happened and abandoned now to the silence for the rest of the time.This
place, is occupied now only by sheep and ghost and excepted these nothing happen
there now . After a rainy day , the place is very dangerous and very often parts
from the roof and stones from the walls are falling down! I like this location
more than any place to meditate. Each time I go there, it is an event for me and
as a ritual , I put some of my stuffs on the walls to say to the ghost who haunt
the rooms that I am still alive in this world…

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly Burns: The Neck Face book launch was fun (Halloween weekend, good vibe, general silliness, great jams). The Clare Rojas opening at   Deitch Projects was excellent too, and that Hollywood Remix opening didn’t suck either. Hey Hey.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: Finders Keepers
Barcelona, I cant quite describe how fresh the trip was, but fuck was it
influential, if only life was as consistently as fun as
that.

Favorite Artist(s) of
2004:

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Zonenkinder: - still “os gemeos” (we wrote this just one day
before they were featured at

st="on">

wooster

site!), because every time when we take a
look at their new stuff we are flashed by their unique phantasy and the amazing
colors they use in their work.

Blek Le Rat: Pure evil of course and Gerard Zlotykamien who started to make graffiti in 1963 in Paris.This man is one of my best friend since twenty years, and one of the most interesting artist I ever met in my life. He was born in 1940 in Paris from a jewish family who was deported by the nazis.He has lived, hidden for three years until the end of the ww2. At 15 years old he took consciousness of the Hiroshima bomb and was so impressed by it that he says” At that time when I saw people in the street I saw them as a shadow and not like human beeings"He also says"When I was a kid and when somebody asked me who is your best friend? I answer the squeleton of my classroom”...During his adolescence he had a wish:” to make a human work only for the good”. In 1954 he had a relationship with the famous painter “Yves Klein” until the death of Klein in 1962.In 1963 he started to make graffiti with chalk on the walls of his city Argenteuil, suburb of Paris and then later with paint and brushes and with spray-cans now . Since this date of 1963, he paints exactly the same figure who are called by him “the Ephemere”.The figure represent the shadow of a man burnt at the moment where the bomb exploded upon Hiroshima. May be you know this famous photo of a wall taken exactly at the moment of the explosion and where we can see the shadow of a man projected on a wall of the city . The body of the man has disappeared and is invisible on the photo only his imprint appears on the wall as a shadow . This photo is really incredible…Gerard Zlotykamien have made thousands and thousands of these “Ephemeres” in the world since forty years now. Two years ago I decided to show some of his works in the street of Le cap in south Africa and Paris in France on a website that I make for him.

Kelly:
Janet Cardiff and Georges Bures Miller (I didn’t really know of them before 2004
- same with Olaf Breuning). Their video, “The Berlin
Files” was at Luhring Augustine Gallery this year. I’ve seen some great video
art, but very little of it even comes close to this. It’s
just not possible to say enough about it, so I wont even try. Janet Cardiff
spoke at the

New

School

recently, and she said that
“The Berlin Files” was on it’s way to

st="on">

Italy

so… heads
up, Italians!  Seriously, you don’t want to miss this.

style="font-weight: bold;">Favorite New Artist of 2004 (an artist who you did
not know of last year):

/>Zonenkinder: - yor 7: he is for sure not a “new” artist, because we know his
artwork since two or three years but this year we finally met the guy and we did
some stuff together

/>

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/zoneny.jpg" />

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

. style=""> he is really a unique guy and donna is very happy to be the
owner of yor`s “writer?s trap”

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/kukama_yor.jpg" />

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

his crew (togehter with itchie + alex) is called “24” and that?s what they do: they do their artwork 24 h per day!

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Blek Le Rat: Arofish who is an English artist who makes a very deep work, and G who is a very interesting french artist that you surely already knows the more he produces works the more i like them.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: href="http://www.parkettart.com/index3.htm%20http://www.airdeparis.com/olaf.htm"
>Olaf Breuning
- Metro Pictures Gallery showed a video of his called style=""> ‘Home’. There’s a 38 page piece on him in the new Parkett

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: Rob McSweeney, he1s one fucking exceptionally
outstanding artist, and a good mate, unknown to the world as of yet, but just
wait.

style="text-align: center;">

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/bigley.jpg" />

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

style="font-weight: bold;">Favorite Single Piece of Art in 2004:

style="font-weight: bold;">

>

Zonenkinder: it?s always difficult to decide which piece is the only best because there were so many inspirating art pieces this year…but this one belongs to our top 30..

/>

Blek Le Rat: it’s a book from a french writer “Celine”“Journey to the end of the night”

Kelly: “The
Berlin Files” (Cardiff and Miller).

Saru: Single piece Sah crap, that1s hard hmmm, well I1d have to say a piece by PMH! In terms of a single piece that1s hard, he’s one of my favourite artists, so selecting his best works difficult, cause its consistently fucking incredible, ok enough ranting, I1m going to go for this piece here, cause its just beautiful.

Logan: The
Vein sculptures from the Body Worlds Exhibit (bodyworlds.com) at the style=""> California Science Center. They’re some of the most beautiful
pieces i have ever seen. they inject the veins of body
donors with this plastic and pump it through the veins
and arteries, the rest of the body eventually rots away, leaving
the plastic casts of the veins. you can see thousands of veins and
arteries. you really have to see it in person to get the
full effect. the red is such a lush, rich, vibrant red
and it just vibrates your eyeholes!

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/vein-head.jpg" />

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/handveins.jpg" />

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Waleska: The 200 people painting with Rolf Harris on the
streets of london to make one giant replica of the famous John Constable’s
HaiyWain

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Favorite New Product of
2004

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Blek Le Rat: The incredible Pure evil’s T-
shirt

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: Is a book a product? If so, href="http://www.newyorkunderground.org/">“New York Underground - Anatomy of a
City”
by Julia Solis is my favorite product of 2004.
“There are two kinds of rats at Grand Central: giant and
super-giant.”

Saru: As humans we have everything, why produce more? I often wonder what would happen if we stopped producing anything at all and lived off natural resources.

Logan:
belkin photo/ipod interface. You can download your digital camera photos to
your ipod. it is a champ when I am traveling. Damnit, I
have become a tech geek. drats!

Waleska:
Montana Alien can

Favorite CD/Song of 2004:

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Zonenkinder:
this year we bought an old soundtrack of the reggae movie “rockers” and we enjoy
the deep reggae music every day…

Blek Le Rat: Mosh by Eminem

style="text-align: center;">

src="http://www.woostercollective.com/images2/eminem.blek2004-.jpg" />
/>

Kelly: Fennesz - Venice.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: To be honest, this year for me has consisted of a
disgracefully shit amount of decent music, id probably go for Britney Spears new
single;) or maybe Polysics “Polysics or Die”, but nothing really comes close to
what id like to be listening to.

Logan:  Showtyme by Abstract Rude

Favorite “Moment” (memory) of 2004:

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Zonenkinder:
sman is still working on his final exams at the moment and therefore he cannot
remeber a favorite moment yet…but i (donna) remember my birthday as one of my
favourite moments: we celebrated together at a lonely beach somewehere in france
(it was very romantic!)...no one was around there…but fortunately someone must
have forgot his cold box with different alcoholic stuff (while our supply was
exhausted)...we really enjoyed the content of this cold box and celebrated till
the sun was rising!

Blek Le Rat: The week I spent in Firenze in Italy during the last june.Thank ‘s Tarek…and the week in London with Pure Evil I had a really great time.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: Aside
from the stuff that’s unfit for public discussion… witnessing my hella-cool
friend making a tremendous social blunder at PS 1. I
laughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my back, and was
screwed up for the next few days.

Saru: My recent trip to Seville, the trip opened my eyes to realise that I need to heavily concentrate on my own drawing abilities, before I continued to develop my own graphical work, so maybe expect some oil paintings of still life1s on the streets soon, ha-ha.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Logan: realizing that there is very little that i could add
to my life to make it better right
now

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Waleska: Painting with the ONG Crew in Barcelona and
painting the skate park in Sao Paulo with my crews Terceiro Mundo and
Intoxicacao Corrosiva.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Favorite Toy of 2004:

Blek Le Rat: unfortunately, I do not play with toys anymore,may be my computer…

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: Not
really into toys, but I got a Dunny signed by Dalek,  and
Dalek is a very cool guy. I hope they sell 9 million of those
things.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: My IBook/a biro I found in my
pocket.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Logan: 12 oz Vandals from one my partners in Workhorse
Studio, Shiro Fujioka

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Favorite Website of
2004:

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-weight: bold;">

/>Zonenkinder: - for sure: href="http://www.alexone.net/">http://www.alexone.net/
!

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Blek Le Rat: Of course “wooster” which is for me the best
non-censured urban art website in the
world , I like also very much href="http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/">http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

a>

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: That would be my girl’s graphic design site - style="">

What do you most want for Christmas?

Zonenkinder: -i (donna) want the people to relax and pause for a few hours and concentrate on the beauty of silence…

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: A studio would work.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru:
Nothing, I have everything I need.

Logan: personal stability and a new president

style="font-weight: bold;">What is your New Year’s
wish?

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Zonenkinder: first of all: the successful passing of the
exams…second: we would like to travel around next year, to visit a lot of
streetart exhibitions and also to contribute in many exhibitions (just drop us a
line and -if its not too far - we will be there)...last but not least: we hope
that there will be no extension of the social and cultural tensions in the
german society (because there is a new law in 2005 - the so called “hartz IV”,
which says that the longtime workless people will get less money for their
living from the state and that they have to work for 1 euro/h if the social
service agencies want them to do so.) and that people
realize that there are no differences between people because of their skin,
their hair, their heritage etc….there are just nice people and there are
assholes and in-betweens. thats all!

Blek Le Rat: Wishes never works usually so I cross the fingers and I keep quiet about my wishes.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Kelly: Life-time supply of Cap’n
Crunch.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: Keep a journal, to document my ideas and to think
before I speak.

Logan: To have 2005 as good as 2004, but to relax a bit more and enjoy it as it happens, instead of after the fact.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

How will you be spending the Holidays this year? / What will you be doing on New Years Eve?

Blek Le Rat: I have many different plans for the next holidays I don’t know yet if those plans will work so I keep quiet and I cross the fingers again . I Think that I will spend the new year Eve with my wife “Sybille” and my son “Alexandre” in Berlin with Jurgen Grosse from the “urban art info” preparing my exhibition in his new gallery for the next spring 2005.

Kelly: Kickin’ back with the loved ones.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Saru: With my family, all my cousins and uncles and aunties
are coming down from the north country so I should be spending some nights on
the streets with a couple of them and having a laugh.

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">

Logan: Spending a month on the East coast visiting friends in Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, and staying with mom in Southern Maryland for some well needed rest and relaxation. Probably spend New Years in my old stomping grounds, Baltimore duckin bullets and drinkin beer

style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
