One of our favorite people who we’ve met through street art
in last few years is a young artist named Saru
who lives in the East End of London. When Saru first dropped us an email href="http://www.woostercollective.com/2003_05_11_newsarchive.html#200292192">ba
ck in May of 2003
he was only 15.

When we were in London this
Summer for our talk at the V&A, a bunch of us went out to dinner, including some
of Saru’s friends from school.  One of them was an absolutely lovely young lady
named Paloma.

So we we thrilled to hear from Saru this week that
Paloma (who’s only 17)was one of the artists chosen for this year’s Young at Art
Awards. The awards picks a short list of London’s most pomising young artists
and then displays their work in the London tube stations.

Paloma’s
award was for her photography that explored the theme of “boundries” and “how
non-physical boundaries, such as social and environmental boundaries can be
materialised.”

We’re not sure if the work is still up, but five
posters, including watercolours, prints and paintings are(or were)at Charing
Cross, Stratford, Mile End, Highbury and Islington, King’s Cross, London Bridge,
Tottenham Court Road, Westminster, Marble Arch, Liverpool Street and St Paul’s
stations.

Congratulations Paloma!
