Catchin’ Up With Blek Le Rat
The
last two weeks was pretty incredible over there in Taipei. I had an exhibition
in a Taiwan gallery” Taipei Artist village ” organised by Nina Liao and Jin Meng
the co- writers of the first book in Chinese about graffiti “Urban Wall Paper”
published in Taiwan and later on will publish in simplified Chinese in China.

My
friends from London “Pure Evil and Arofish” participated to the exhibition with
their beautifulwork as well.. So many interviews for newspapers, magazines, TVs,
radios so many talks in different universities and so many interesting questions
asked by the people.I had no time left to visit the city, but i like so much
this way to visit a country and meeting with people. The organisation of the
exhibition was really great and nothing was left beside, I think we have a lot
to learn from Chinese people… Their kindness, their ability to organise big
event and their serious in doing things. Everybody around was concerned by the
event even Nina’s family who gave the thumb up and their precious time to
organise. For the launching of the exhibition hundred and hundred of people came
to visit and during all the time of the exhibition the gallery was full of
different kind of people. Young Hip hop Taiwanese people,Professor from
University, journalist of course, people from Taiwanese government and people
from the street. I was lucky to meet an executive Director of tourism commission
of Taipei city government who told me “if you get arrested by the Taipei police
doing urban art just call me and I will make some phone call to help you”; It
was like a passport to make urban art without any paranoia .So, of course, I
hitted the street of the city for one night . Incredible experience. It was the
first time of my life that my art was so far from its home. Different
environment, different meanings of image, urban art probably the most important
art movement of all of the time. There is no cities in the world where graffiti
art doesn’t exist in its any kind of form. Urban art involve so many people now
in the world that I can say something really strong is happening in the chain of
evolution of art.
