Call For Entries: “Stop Bush” DVD and Book
From Josh at
href="http://www.justseeds.org/">Justseeds: “If you have done any Anti-Bush
graphics, I want them! And if you have any photos of anti-Bush public
expression, ie. graffiti, marker scrawl, stencils, pasted posters, stickers,
glass etchings, finger writing on dirty trucks, you name it, iwant to see
it…
Check out the call below for “Stop Bush” DVD and Book.
/>This looks like it’s going to be a great project, the book will be about 80
pages and I’m going to cram as many graphics and photos in there as i can, and
we hope to create a gallery of graphics on the DVD that you can cruise through
with a remote control, sort of like the style wars dvd for anyone thats seen
that…
so, send me more art!
solidarity,
josh

Announcing an exciting new project!!!
STOP
BUSH: A MULTIMEDIA ARCHIVE AND TOOLKIT
Call for Submissions (DEADLINE:
April 1, 2004)
anti-Bush movies, protest graphics, design, and street art
from 2000-2004 sponsored by Clamor
Magazine, Counter Productive Industries, justseeds, and Rooftop Films
/>
Since the day Bush stepped into the White House, there has been a
torrent of visual art created to get him out. Much of this amazing work has come
and gone - hoisted as a sign at a protest, wheatpasted on a wall one early
morning, or broadcast on public access cable. Now in 2004, as we build for his
eviction, we are compiling many of these anti-Bush movies, graphics, stencils,
posters, and photographs into a dvd/print booklet project called “Stop Bush: A
Multimedia Archive and Toolkit.”
If you use culture for resistance,
this will be your toolkit. “Stop Bush” will provide inspiration to cover public
walls, content to set up film screenings, and lessons in propaganda.
/>As the name suggests, there are two purposes for this project:
/>
- to archive for posterity this genre of political art; and
/>
- to gather and present materials that can be used this summer and
fall.
With these purposes in mind, submissions will be selected for
inclusion in the DVD and print booklet based on their aesthetic and critical
qualities and their tactical usefulness.
NOTE
- There is no
admission fee, though donations are welcome (checks in any amount made out to
Clamor Magazine).
- Video material should be submitted on VHS. There are
no lengthrestrictions, though shorter is better. Trailers and clips from
features are encouraged.
- Print and design material may be submitted in
paper or electronic formats. All graphics and photographs of street art
submitted electronically should be high-resolution tif or jpg files. Email to
stopbush@justseeds.org or mail a CD to the address below.
- All materials
must be received by April 1, 2004
- Materials will not be returned
/>(This project is primarily for already-produced material, though original
writing and artwork on this topic should be sent to Clamor Magazine for
consideration by June 20, 2004.)
