Brad Downey’s Best of 2005

Favorite Event of 2005:

“Bike Kill”  It was a mixture of Tall bike jousting, wrecking a car, a Jet engine bike, and everthing in between. I cant believe how amazing and beautiful these bikes are. There like kinetic sculptures with my favorite people at the controls.

Favorite Artist of 2005:

Joseph Beuys. “To make people free is the aim of art, therefore art for me is the science of freedom.”

Favorite New Artist of 2005 (an artist who you did not know of last year):

Erik Tideman a norwiedian artist currently working in london. He made a great performance piece using a small roof top as stage. It was called “The Shared Soul of the Doppelganger Ian Curtis.”  Apparently he was trying to bring Ian Curtis lead singer from the Joy Division back to life. using Half man Half beast scientists.

Favorite Piece of Art of 2005:

“City of Names” at the backjumps exhibition in Berlin. Akim and Zast organized it. But it seemed like hundreds of people contributed. There were so many great parts to this piece. One artist made sea shell buckminsterfuller domes.
