Banksy “Thinker” Statue Update
From Clabbski: “the ‘Drinker’ statue in London
that you recently published on your web site, is in fact an original Banksy, it
was positioned near where I work in Paddington in London for the last few
months and then suddenly disappeared. Presumably it is the same one Professor X
spotted near the British Museum. I’ve attached a picture of it at Paddington
London from www.stateoftheart.co.uk
Also from which comes the folowing quote:
Inspired by
Tesco’s Buy One Get One Free (or BOGOF campaign) Banksy has moved into
sculpture. The idea is to make two sculptures - one to be sold and one to be
donated to the public. Naturally some lucky local council won’t be able to
choose the site. They’ll just wake up one morning to find that a new monument
has been cemented in place overnight.
Note: Banksy’s thinker is not
bronze but some kind of filler that is painted to look like bronze. That is one
cone that is part of the statue and someone has added an extra one that seems to
have stayed with this version. (The base however is a solid block of
concrete)
