Cena7 in Sao Paulo

While he’s been paiting on the streets of São Paulo Brasil since 1999, it was only this week that we discovered, and subsequently fell in love with, the artwork of cena7.

Asking him to tell us a little about himself and his work, here’s what he told us:

“The bedding of my work with painting is an appropriation of some usual materials in the language of graffiti: latex, spray and synthetic enamel. I choose as thematic of my work we, men, and the current emptiness where we live, portraying our anguish in search to be successful and financially more beautiful physically, thus giving up living our dreams as it determines the capitalist society where we live, changing the human values to love and to coexist. How much to the formal aspects of my workmanships I use symbols of the personal universe exploring the existing expressiva force in the colors.”

with the graffiti and the streets i have a connection very personal, for me is something very complex…  there is a linking with the process and everything that in the streets exists, invisible things, things that I only could see when I am painting… things that the streets of São Paulo only have… at last, the “day to day inevitability” in partnership with the illegal painting.

You can see more work from Cena7 here.
