More on the Miss Rockaway Armada Project
Here's a bit more info on Swoon's Miss Rockaway Armada. The boats are being built entirely from salvaged materials found in dumpsters, construction sites, and on the sidewalk. The boats will float by three 20 foot-long pontoon rafts that are tied together. Each raft will have two pontoons filled with foam. The engine are coming from
two Volkswagen Rabbit diesel engines that are being converted to run on waste vegetable oil (used fryer grease) that will power the propellor. The motors will have an alternator from a police car that’ll keep our deep cell batteries charged.
