ABOUT SEEN

Many of the great New York City subway painters from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s have fallen into oblivion, nevertheless several have been quite successful with their creativity since that period. Richard Mirando (a.k.a. SEEN) may have been the greatest and most versatile artist from this generation of subway painters. SEEN produced some of the most innovative whole carriage murals. More than any other painter of this genre, his name is most known due his constant globetrotting. SEEN’s extensive creativity was first highlighted in the books “Subway Art” and “Spraycan Art”, by the talented photographers Henry Chalfant, Martha Cooper, and James Prigoff. The international cult classic documentary “Style Wars” was broadcasted on NYC PBS stations also offered a refreshing insight to the thoughts and creations by SEEN. One of SEEN’s main components is his undying commitment to letterform-which is why he has leaped into another dimension of art. Retreating from the flat surface of a canvas SEEN has delved into the world of sculpture, exploring its many textures and media. Throughout the past four decades, SEEN has developed into an internationally respected painter whose works have been exhibited in the most prestigious galleries and museums. SEEN maintains a unique and original talent that can never be duplicated and is simply admired. The combination of his business acumen, upbeat personality, and fresh painting skills have ingrained his name in history, when one examines the culture of the fantastic subway painters from New York’s bygone era.

Today, SEEN has rekindled his love for collectable toys. Being an avid toy collector for many years he has amassed a huge array of rare and unique toys. He is currently working on designing and producing several lines of limited edition toys that bear the SEEN style he is so well know for. SEEN is quickly emerging as one of the most sought after, premiere toy designers in today’s every changing collectable market.

His work can be found at both SEENWORLD.com and PLANET6.com

ABOUT TRISTAN EATON

Born in Los Angeles in 1978, Tristan Eaton began pursuing street art as a teenager, painting everything from billboards to dumpsters in the urban landscape of wherever he lived, including London, England and Detroit, Michigan. Eaton then moved to New York City to study at the School of Visual Arts, but conveniently dropped out to pursue commercial projects. Since then, Eaton has been the Director of Toy Design for the infamous Kidrobot, held a teaching position at The Parsons School of Design and recently formed ‘THUNDERDOG’, his very own toy label & full service design studio, based in D.U.M.B.O., Brooklyn. Eaton’s prominent work in the field of ‘Designer Toys’ has led to international recognition and infamous collaborations with noted artists and fashion designers around the world.

Eaton is currently represented by the prestigious Central Illustration Agency in Europe, Bernstein & Andriulli in the USA, and CWC in Tokyo, where he is regularly commissioned by NIKE, Def Jam Records, Chevy Impala and Hasbro Inc. Eaton keeps his more personal Fine Art on a different radar, exhibiting in galleries such as the East Village's FUSE Gallery, Detroit’s C-POP Gallery, Chelsea's RUSH ARTS & Milan's Pallazzo del' Arte.

“As a graffiti artist turned illustrator turned toy designer, Brooklyn’s Tristan Eaton embodies the kind of hybrid multi-tasking style that is the hallmark of the modern urban artist. Moving from pencil and paper to paint brush and canvas to Macintosh to city wall, Eaton switches gears effortlessly, refusing to commit fully to any one medium as he goes.”
