Mural by Calma

The buzz on the Static Free show that opened on Sept. 30th in
Pittsburgh PA has been amazing. Our friend Calma from Sao Paulo, who’s here in
New York after flying in from Brazil for the show, has been raving about it for
days. We’re now wishing that we had gone out for it.

Static Free was
a weekend event that featured two galleries, a symposium moderated by Henry
Chalfant at a nearby theatre, a screening of Pablo Aravenya’s new film “Next”,
and the city’s first ever sanctioned permanent graffiti mural.

Over
2000 people came through the doors.

The gallery “Space” was the central component of the show and featured installations and work from the following artists:

The “Future Tenant” gallery is located across the street from “Space” and featured a long list of local and emerging artists. Sean Barton, Dan Bergeron, Dallah Cesan, Cameron Clayton, Nicholas Ganz, Labrona, Jamie Matthews, Matt McNaught, Daniel Montano, Danny Paracat, Chris Savido, Ollie Straughter, Jude Vachon

If you can make out there, the closing party will be on Saturday Oct. 22nd from 7pm -11pm. Both galleries will be open and are located on the 800 block of Liberty ave in Downtown Pittsburgh.
