Give ‘Em Props - Roadsworth on Andy Goldsworthy

“This little gem by Andy Goldsworthy embodies the
beauty that can result when a man interacts harmoniously with his environment
(this is not to be interpreted as an endorsement of sheep lovers of the world
for example.) This peice reflects for me the rare symbiosis of simplicity,
patience, elegance and impossibility that epitomizes Mr. Goldsworthy’s work (or
is it the work that epitomizes the symbiosis?). This simple, yet no doubt
agonizingly wrought ice spiral that I discovered relatively recently eclipses
other works of art that had an impact on me and that I was exposed to while
growing up like various prints by Hokusai and Joan Miro for example. Looking at
Andy Goldsworthy’s work almost makes me want to trade in my life as city slicker
for one of hippy rural bliss…almost.”... Roadsworth
