Favorite New Artist of 2004 (an artist who you did not know of last year):
Arofish: Silvio Berlusconi
Klutch: Amy Rice. Her stuff is always so fun and she has a awesome attitude. When she was evicted and her home/studio/garden was condemned she told me she was thankful for the memories and good times she had there and wasn't focused on the loss. Since it was being condemned she dismantled the fixtures and turned them into a show documenting her life there. From her artist's statement:
Grow flowers.
Ride a bike.
Love an animal.
Learn something new.
Find your wings.
Make art of it all.
Pez: Alfonsito el Rapero (El Kolgaito del Puerto)
Killer Gerbil: Orkibal (Malaysia) for his fresh characters.
Favorite Single Piece of Art in 2004:

Favorite "Moment" (memory) of 2004:
Arofish: Telling 4 cops that I was "just cleaning" a wall in Old st (Central London) at 5 in the morning - and watching them walk away. I was coming to the end of a 9 x 3 metre piece and had cans and stencils lying around. I pulled a rag out of my pocket and started wiping away, expecting to get my collar felt at any minute. "Oh, no problem pal," says one, "someone thought you was graffiti-ing, that's all." "Nah, mate, contract cleaner," I said. Exit them. Like you get told on every safety brief, a hi-vis vest can make all the difference...
