This morning we got to peep the latest edition of Soundwalk - the
super cool CD based “audio guide for insiders” that you may have seen at Urban
Outfitters in NYC. (That is if you’re the Urban Outfitters type) After creating
tours of New York’s Chinatown, the Lower East Side, Times Square and Dumbo, the
guys over at Soundwalk/Oversampling have now teamed up with adidas to produce a
kickass hip hop inspired audio tour of the Bronx. Yes, the fuckin’ Bronx.
‘about time the Bronx got some respect. This time out the Soundwalk team has
spared no expense, blowing the thing up to three CD’s. Each CD tackles a
distinct Bronx neighborhood: Yankee Stadium, Hunts Point and Soundview.  One of
the CD’s features Hunts Point killer graffiti scene, with emphasis on the TATS
CRU, CRASH, CHAIN3 and the artwork of John Ahearn and Rigoberto Torres.  The
narrator is none other than BG183 of TATS CRU.  Another CD centers on the
Soundview/Bronx River area that’s the home of Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu
Nation and is known as the birthplace of hip-hop. It includes interviews with
Afrika Bambaataa, GrandWizzard Theodore, Kool DJ Red Alert, and GrandMaster Caz.
Narrator is the legendary DJ and producer The Original Jazzy Jay, who started
playing in the streets of the Bronx under the guidance of Afrika Bambaataa.
He’s worked with Fat Joe, Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, and many others.
Pretty dope, right?
